In fact, you might even feel like just looking at carbs makes the pounds pile onto your hips. Right?

What are Bad Carbs?

Ever heard the term “Bread Butt”? Cookies, cakes, crackers, bread and so on are not going to be providing you much in the way of health boosting benefits. In fact, these carbohydrates can actually lead to symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, gastrointestinal distress, weight gain, poor vision, concentration troubles, diabetes, and can also increase your risk of autoimmune diseases as well. Gluten intolerance is a very common condition for many people and occurs when you consume anything that contains wheat, rye, or barley. Although you can test for it, the tests notoriously give false negatives, so the best way to tell if you have a gluten sensitivity is to eliminate gluten from your diet completely for two months to see how you feel. Many people feel a night-vs-day difference and haven’t looked back.

What are Good Carbs?

Instead of breads, wheat and sugary carbs, put the focus on naturally occurring good carbohydrates. Bananas, berries, broccoli, sweet potatoes, carrots, peppers, apples – all of these are highly nutritious must-haves in your diet protocol. They’ll provide antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber – important elements for good health.

  1. Nope! Not gonna happen. Whole oats I will eat, But I still will limit it. Carbs are by far more dangerous than straight up consuming fats.

  2. I agree with Shannon on this. As a nutrition coach myself, I see a lot of people who just completely cut out carbohydrates based on a irrational fear. Often times, just adding more carbs in, makes all the difference.

    I could not disagree more. I’m on a ketogenic diet and I’m feeling like a million bucks limiting my carbs intake has made me lose weight, not crave for any carbs (until my cheat day), and live a healthy and active lifestyle. carbs sure are important but i can live with the bare minimum requirement of it.

    I believe that obsession to weight loss or being very thin causes this wrong beliefs. This article is an eye opener for everyone (particularly those who believe that it is carb intake that’s causing weight gain). I believe that everything should be taken in moderation.   6. Successful diets should always be about moderation, rather than completely eliminating an entire group of foods. Carbs are an important part of your diet and should never be completely cut!

  9. Having all the food groups in your diet is crucial, including carbohydrates. Personally, I love Basmati rice with steamed veggies and chicken. (It's the perfect dinner that has variety and a bit healthier than pasta with tomato sauce!) Plus, exercising requires fuel..so eating healthy carbs will give you that extra boost while lifting or going on a long run after work.

    It's terrible when people eliminate carbs from their diet. Carbohydrates are the ONLY nutrient that your brain can function on. That's right, protein and fat don't benefit the brain at all.

      That is so true, thank you! The only thing is to balance the amount of carb you eat with the other nutrients and don’t do the extreme and eat too many carbs. Sometimes I did and I was feeling sick.
