For people over 50, getting back onto the scene can be hard and often scary. If you think all decent guys in their thirties are married, finding decent men in their fifties or sixties is like looking for a needle in a haystack. So what did this guy do for his mom? He began looking in a really big haystack – the entire world. He shot, edited and uploaded to YouTube one of the most original profiles you’ve ever seen and his mom’s reaction when she saw it is just priceless.

  1. Is it just me or do present day relations in China sound more like Jane Austen with each revealing peek into the intimate details of what it’s like to date and marry?

  2. Sugar is sugar. Regardless of where it comes from. Refined or fruit. Your body will process it the same way. Just stay away from it.

  3. Interesting that the hired male has his identity hidden but the girl doing the hiring doesn’t.

  4. There is absolutely no nutritional value with sugar… It is not an electrolyte, does nothing but add calories and aggravate the pancreas.

  5. Sugar itself is not bad for us, it’s the large amount of sugar that is bad for us. If we didn’t have any sugar at all and our blood sugar is too low, then that is not good. However, we must maintain our diet and not eat too much sugar. I’m addicted to doughnuts and junk foods because they tasted so good, but it’s not good for us which is more important.

  6. OMG the cuteness of those kittens! <3 Subscribing to his YouTube to follow the progress. 🙂

  7. This Rent A Boyfriend thing sounds like a jigolo service without the sexual features haha. I’ll pass.

  8. For starters, Krispy Kreme donuts are probably 95% air… So naturally I would expect them to have less sugar than any sweet tasting foods that are more dense (and filling)…. Also, comparing only 1 aspect of a food is very misleading – you need to look at the big picture…. If it has more sugar, but also more fiber, protein, etc. it may balance out…. Krispy Kreme donuts are dough that is fried and then coated in a sugary glaze… Probably zero nutritional value…. Some of the other comparable items at least had some nutrients in them

  9. Great article about the camping sites in New York. Although it’s hard to get solitude, NY is a beautiful place to go hiking and camping. 🙂

  10. Rent-A-Boyfriend is a joke. When a girl is about 25 years old or more without a stable relationship , her parents are anxious about whether she could get married this lifetime or not LOL. So the girl rents a boyfriend to pretend that she has one to lull her parents. But I think nobody really does it.

  11. Some of these foods are made with natural sugar….which is definitely not the same as the sugar in those donuts. Calories are not made equal!

  12. Rent A Boyfriend? No, thank you! How DESPERATE one has to be to do that?

  13. I know I will catch hell for this, but, New York State has so many great campgrounds, any list would be predjudiced. We alll have our own favorites. Among ours, are, Fair Haven, North Bay, Cedar Point, Stillwater Reservoir, Whetstone Park, Golden Hills. Theres many more, and, all have their own charms, and beauty…

  14. I find this very sad. With China’s one child policy, they have many more men than women. Simple laws of supply and demand tell you that he should be the one paying for the date with her. Something doesn’t pass the smell test here, Asian social mores need a reality check.

  15. Lovely post about the rescue of three feral kittens. Truly heart warming. 🙂

  16. How about a bottom 10 list? One I would not recommend going to is Lake George Battleground State Park. You have no isolation from the people in the next site, they are literally right next to you. I saw one person drive their truck and camper through another persons site to get it into their site, almost flattening the tent that was set up. And it’s right on Route 9 so you get a lot of traffic noise at night.

  17. Calories ARE created equally, actually. It’s a unit of measurement only, not an ingredient. It measures the amount of energy used to burn fuel. Period. Saying calories are not created equal is like saying one inch is shorter than another inch because you poured sugar on it. How did we all become so ignorant and stupid to believe the rest of the hype?

  18. I think – Sugar is bad, because we consume way way way too much. Starting addiction as children and never stopping as adults. For goodness sakes bank tellers offer lollypops to kids…. Hidden sugars, “open” sugars, raw, organic… Too much. Artificial sweeteners is NOT a replacement of sugar, it is not a solution for diabetic, it is unsafe. Our bodies are not equipped to handle it. Avoid. If you want a treat have a fruit, berries and so on..

  19. “Renting a boyfriend” is better known as buying a hooker in the rest of the world. LOL

  20. Ahh how adorable are those kitties! Such a cute story! 🙂

  21. Have you read the book “While Science Sleeps, a Sweetener Kills”? It’s a must. It’s about artificial sweeteners and their extreme damage. Sugar is also more dangerous than cocaine.

  22. Tracie Raymond

Great list, some I would not have thought of. If you will ask me what to choose between renting a guy or a car, i’ll pick the car and go on a joyride while eating a whole box of krispy kreme(lol). Also, I found this very helpful. Everyone should know this, esp. the second article. Thank you for sharing ,some of these is very useful for me. 🙂

  23. Elsie Spurlock

This series is so interesting and informative. I’ll never date or get into a relationship with a person i don’t know and will never chase a guy. And i do not want to look desperate in finding a partner. Thank you so much for the great info. I look forward to future posts.

  24. Lulia Jan

Great post! I love the story of little kittens were rescued by a man. I love cats. they are adorable.

  25. Charlene Campbell

This is a FABULOUS list, and includes some ideas I’ve never thought of like the article about sugar.

  26. Issabbell Symon

Amazing series! I wish to spend my weekend camping in new york. It’s surprising renting a boyfriend . I won’t try it. Happy to know that doughnut is not having more sugar than some other fast foods. Thanks for sharing such informative articles.

  27. Ketty Ben

Interesting article “renting-a-boyfriend”.the BF for hire doesn’t think he’ll find love on the job because no one would ever take him seriously, his job pays the bills and lets him travel. Normally, he’s hired by single women to fend off family members, but he’s even played the role of entertaining mistresses when their men are out of town.

  28. Pasty Clin

I am truly addicted to sugar. I also have stopped eating bread and other starches that I have learned get converted to sugar within the body. Hang in there. I know I feel so much better when I abstain.

  29. Monika Smith

Great series! I am actually more shocked at the fact that a Krispy Kreme donut only has 10 grams of sugar and it’s healthier than some other food – that’s truly HARD to believe!!

  30. Interesting! I’d be willing to try and experience that “rent-a-boyfriend” service! But I’m here in FL… Kinda impossible in the next 3 years…

  31. As an Emergency and Internal Medicine Resident, I’ve witnessed the “negative” effects of sugar to patients — lost leg to diabetes, diabetic retinopathy, vision problems, etc.

What most people don’t realize is that everything we eat contains sugar. It’s important that we learn to differentiate processed sugar and natural sugar in food sources. Artificial sweeteners should be avoided or totally eliminated.

  32. And I’m so ready to explore NYC! Thanks for sharing those campsites!

  33. Naincy Winget

Interesting article! it’s really surprising to know about renting a boyfriend service. I really don’t have any idea about that. Thank you for sharing incredible stories each Friday.

  34. Informative finds! Fantastic article about sugar. An excess of anything is indeed dangerous! Balance is very important. Yeah, sugar is vital to survival, it’s not the devil, JUST DON’T OVERINDULGE 😉

  35. I’m sooooo happy that those cats were rescued! Very adorable! Man, I adore him for having a heart for these cats 🙂

  36. Well, I must admit, that article about foods with “more” sugar than my doughnuts is really surprising! I’m trying to get away with sugar because it causes far more health problems than just making me fat.

    Nice find, Urbanette!

  37. Rent-a-boyfriend service?! Really, huh! Well, I personally won’t try it… Not my kind of thing, sorry.

On another note, I was moved by the story of the man who rescued cats!

  38. I would definitely try that boyfriend rental if I lived there 😀 Just for fun though, nothing intimate! Urbanette is really helpful in disseminating information. Great find here 😀

  39. You can go camping in NYC??!! That’s incredible.

BTW – That video is really something.

    • Yeah, great discovery, Urbanette! Camping in NYC sounds fantastic and a new learning for me!

    • I’d love to explore the incredible campsites mentioned in the article! Thanks and you discovered it for me, Urbanette!

  40. I had no idea that VitaminWater is so bad for you! Thanks for filling me in. Yukkkkk!!
