Patti Stanger tells us her top 12 tips to get you from ‘Hello’ to ‘I Do!’

Dating doesn’t have to be a guessing game. Here are 12 dating Do’s and Dont’s to make sure you get your man – and keep him:

Top 12 Dating Tips

1.  Make a top 10 non-negotiable list of the things you want in your man.

Put them in priority sequence using four categories: spiritual, physical, emotional and mental. You may only have two physical quirks like hair and height on the list, but not more. Chemistry is the only thing that is a given so it does not need to be added to the list. Keep this list in your wallet at all time. If a man does not have all 10 things on your list do not step off the curb to date him no matter how handsome or rich he is.

2. Make a plan of action. What are you doing every week to meet your mate?

You should have at least one event, party or place, to go to meet quality eligible men each week. Location, location, location! Research where men of your type hang out, and go there alone.

3. Always date a pair and a spare. You must always date three men at a time.

The first man is the front-runner on your list, the second one you are not sure about and the third one is the one who most likely will become a friend that you feel comfortable with. This enables you to fill up your time by being so busy that it takes your mind off the one you really want.

Originally from Denver and now living in NYC, Angie has been writing since she was small. She lives in the Flatiron district with her partner Tanya and their mutt Sparky (always adopt!) In her spare time she loves to paint (mostly abstract) and talk to random people on the street to find out what's interesting to them.

When all is said and done. This 12 things will just be trash when “the one” comes along in the end. Trust me, all this planning will go to wast once you feel it.

  2. I agree with the third point that you should make a plan and then proceed.

  3. I love her black dress! Who’s the designer? I want to buy it!

BTW – #8 is all but impossible. I don’t want a guy to think I’m frigid. Seriously! :/

  4. Seriously. Why is a millionaire guy everyone’s fantasy? I’ve dated a couple and they’re usually cheating a-holes. For real.

I don't agree with all of these, but I appreciate that she offers some proactive suggestions, such as outlining what you're looking for in specific terms and making looking for a mate part of your weekly routine.

I totally agree with number 1. Whenever my friends have boy problems, I always tell them to come up with a very specific image in their head of what they want in a man, and don't settle for anything less than exactly what they want! The more they focus on what they want, the easier it'll be to manifest that into their lives.

  7. I agree with all except for #12. If you don't live together first, then how can you know if you're really compatible? Plus, I've seen friends who live with their boyfriends get married several times. Thoughts?
