Urbanette.com Traffic Numbers

Urbanette.com gets between 200,000 and 600,000 unique visitors per month and from half a million to over 1 million pageviews per month. The typical number of views per Urbanette.com article ranges from 120,000 to 410,000 in the first two months.

Please note that Urbanette has very high per-article readership numbers compared to the overall website traffic. This is because we publish an article only once per week, and social posts three times per week (see more about our posting schedule here). So each article gets a lot of views, but the website overall gets much less than if we were posting many articles per day and spreading the views out over more articles.

All articles are also shared with hundreds of thousands of followers on our social media (please click for current follower count: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and Pinterest).

Alexa Ranking

For reference, here are some Alexa rankings (the lower the ‘rank’ number, the more traffic a site gets):

We’ve all heard the statistics about what makes PR an invaluable tool: 3% of people (the true ‘influencers‘, like #HilaryRowland) generate 90% of the impact online. Editorial media placements drive 3x more purchases than advertising alone; a typical blog mention takes that number up to 9x *. Urbanette article mentions typically perform 450% better than the ‘average’ blog post (which is already 9x more effective than advertising) at driving sales, due to the fact that our content is trusted, targeted and compelling.

If you have a product that you are promoting, please contact us about a review at editor@urbanette.com with the subject “Product Review”.

Wondering what we’ll write if we don’t like your hotel or product?

We do not publish negative reviews — those wouldn’t benefit our readers, nor would they benefit any party. If there are issues with your product or establishment, we will tell you and ask for your word that you will have them fixed. Your word is good enough for us, and we won’t include those elements in the article. If there are really big, unfixable issues, we’ll decline the article and write you a valuable, confidential report (Hilary also runs Pearls & Pocket Squares – a luxury resort mystery inspection service) with many useful, actionable tips, so that you can dramatically improve your establishment or product.

If we have published a review of your product, hotel or brand, and you would like a large cover photo for your press page, or a hard-copy of the magazine, we’d be happy to send that to you please contact us.

Travel PR: Hilary does consider media trips (with her husband who is also a travel writer and photographer, all expenses paid, with an itinerary) as long as the focus falls into one of these categories: luxury (5-star everything), eco (farm to table, eco-friendly boutique hotel, etc.) or novelty/bucket-list (very unusual/notable). Here’s an example of an article that resulted from a media trip.

On average, the results from a 4-night Urbanette media hotel stay are: 43 bookings within the first 6 months, and 72 bookings within the first year, all directly citing Urbanette as the source. Additional bookings may have been made as a partial or unattributed result of Urbanette’s post(s). On average, 67% of those bookings were premium suites.

Feedback from Brands:

Check out some of the many unsolicited Thank You letters we’ve been sent by brands & hotels:

“Wow! Just finished reading your 6 Reasons to Visit Buttermilk Falls story and want to express my gratitude, not only on behalf of the inn, but on that of the mid-Hudson Valley in general. You mapped out a perfect, well balanced between indulgence and cultural enrichment, getaway from NYC. And your appreciation for, and thorough description of, the property clearly prompted your readers interest, according to the comments. The hotel manager said they’re getting about 20 to 30 booking inquiries a day from your readers. Thank you so much for your effusive praise, despite having some reservations (CJ has shared your very helpful comments and suggestions with me). Looking forward to the possibility of working with you and your Urbanette team again in the future.” – Publicist for Buttermilk Falls Inn

“This is AMAZING. I am more than pleased!!!!! It is my favorite piece of press EVER and I am not just saying that. We have had a LOT of hits from North America in the last day because of your article. I also had a lot of orders from the US yesterday, so thank you VERY VERY MUCH from Jackie and Belinda here in London.” – President of Belen Echandia (one day after article was published)

“Great piece – thanks for sending. The winery has already told me they are getting a lot of response and social media interest.” – Sam Folsom of Folsom + Associates, the PR agent for Quivira winery mentioned on the 3rd page of a travel article (4 hours after article was published)

“Thank you for the wonderful review! We enjoyed having you stay with us. We’re receiving LOTS of hits on the website, coming from your review. Lots of phone calls and bookings too – about four per day! Some from NYC & LA :-)” – Owner of McKinley House Bed & Breakfast in Thousand Islands, NY State (two weeks after article was published)

“I wanted to drop you a note of thanks again for your wonderful review of Villa Castellamonte. The review has done wonders for our little business — in fact, in the two months since the article was published we went from having only 5 future bookings when it was published, to being completely booked up for the entire rest of the year — all coming from your article! We’re going to get to meet hundreds of your readers!! LOL
Since it is online all of the time, it acts as an independent virtual marketing machine all of its own. People read it, follow the link to the villa website, check our reviews on TripAdvisor and book! You have truly captured the ‘essence’ of the ambiance one enjoys while vacationing in our beachfront estate. It was a labor of love to develop it so when we see others such as you truly ‘get it’ we are doubly happy. Thank you again for the opportunity to meet and work with you.” – Jason R. Matthews, Owner, Villa Castellamonte (sent years after the review was first published – view the letter)

“l thoroughly enjoyed reading your review of The Windham Hill Inn. You clearly captured our little Green Mountain property, and the bookings have been pouring in since the article was published. l love how you fully explored our property and the local history and sites as well. Not only is the review fresh and fun, it has benefited us greatly on the business side as well. When the article was posted we noticed an increase in bookings and inquiries into Meadowlook room and the spa especially. With the article easily accessible online people are able to read the review and decide that this is the haven of relaxation they have been searching for. After that they can easily look us up and reserve their room online or give us a call. It was lovely to meet you and a pleasure working with you.” – Katja Matthews, Innkeeper & General Manager, The Windham Hill Inn (Relais & Chateaux) (sent six months after the review was first published – view the letter)

“Wow – this came out beautifully! I wanted to send along a note to say thank you for including him. Mike is beyond thrilled with this. Thank you again for your patience and for sharing your valuable Urbanette audience with him. Really appreciate it and hope your readers found it as useful and engaging as I did. What other kinds of stories/experts are you looking for and or working on? We have 30 + clients and I’d love to work with you again. Let me know if/how I can ever be of help and or service to you!” – Publicist of lawyer interviewed about marriage law

“[Hilary] did a lot of her own research and wrote a much more thorough article than we had anticipated. In fact, she ended up writing three articles instead of one! Not only that, but her photos of Namur were so excellent that the Tourist office for Namur has used some of them for their 2016 brochure. I have been sharing [the article] with American consumers interested in Namur and Belgium and it has been a great selling point. All our suppliers (hotels, restaurants) were delighted with the partnership with Hilary Rowland. I highly recommend working with her and her team.” – Francoise Haffreingue, Belgian Tourist Office (view the letter)

“I appreciate and admire the job you did with the article about our hotel and the destination. The number of times people reference it to me clearly shows that a lot of readers look up to your articles. With infinite gratitude, I must say that yours is the best article so far! Be sure to stay with us again, we have a special media rate just for you! 😉 ” – Ricardo Iriarte, sales manager at Sheraton hotel chain

“Wow, this coverage is so aesthetically pleasing and the article is so in depth! From design, to spa, to dining, and the adorable kitten shots, the quality is clear in all of the amazing interaction the post received from your followers. We absolutely love it!” – Rachel Peace at Imagine Communications, the PR agent for The Carlton Hotel St. Moritz
