Giorno 1 e 2: Amman
Amman è la capitale della Giordania, e forse la città più "moderna" qui. Contiene grattacieli da un lato e minuscole case di mattoni marroni dall'altro. Il tempo era il migliore ad Amman, non era caldo come Petra né umido come il Mar Morto. Al mattino c'era il sole e c'era vento e di notte era freddo e tranquillo (a parte il traffico, ovviamente).
Un posto meraviglioso dove fermarsi per un po' mentre si guida per la città è il distretto di Zahar ad Amman ovest, dove si ergono le grandi torri del Jordan Gate. È un bellissimo monumento da guardare mentre si mangia uno shawarma a pranzo. Amman ha una miscela perfetta di modernità e storia. Ha magnifici musei costruiti intorno a antiche rovine. Amman è un posto meraviglioso per collezionare oggetti d'antiquariato e souvenir per la tua casa.

Posto da pranzo al Four Seasons
Four Seasons si trova proprio nel centro di Amman, il che lo rende il posto giusto per fare tutti i tuoi acquisti. Oltre a ciò, la posizione di questo hotel offre anche una splendida vista del paesaggio urbano da concedersi prima di andare a letto. Four Seasons offre anche un'esclusiva terapia termale asiatica che coinvolge pietre calde e miele e molto relax. Ho trovato questo Four Seasons il posto perfetto in cui soggiornare ad Amman perché ha musei, negozi e ristoranti a pochi passi.
Dove mangiare ad Amman
Amman è nota per la sua rilassante cucina araba. La cucina giordana si distingue dal resto della cucina araba per l'uso della menta e di altre erbe. La menta è particolarmente famosa nella cucina giordana e ha diverse proprietà lenitive come aiutare a ridurre il gonfiore, eliminare le tossine e liberarsi dallo stress! Ristorante Kan Zaman è una rappresentazione per eccellenza - ma sontuosa - dell'architettura ottomana. Ha pareti e pavimenti in ciottoli, che ti fanno sentire come se fossi in una città medievale o in un film. La cucina servita qui spazia dalla stravagante cucina mediterranea a quella araba fatta in casa. Offre sia la carte che buffet, anche se il loro buffet è più famoso.

La Maison Verte è un posto sexy e romantico. L'atmosfera è buia e la stanza è arredata in velluto e viola, con dipinti di vecchie sale da pranzo giordane alle pareti. Questo ristorante serve sia cucina continentale che giordana. C'è anche sax dal vivo e musica jazz che aggiunge ulteriore atmosfera romantica al ristorante.
Cantalupo Gastro Pub
Cantalupo durante il giorno, ma è meglio di notte
Il Cantalupo Gastro Pub è uno dei posti migliori ad Amman per rilassarsi dopo le avventure diurne. È anche uno dei posti migliori per ottenere la cucina continentale ad Amman. Il pub ha un'atmosfera vivace, ottima musica, drink fantastici e un'atmosfera meravigliosa.

Was in Petra in November 2014. I saw very bad cases of animal abuse (donkeys being electrocuted with tazers, exhausted horses having to race up and down the site, very young children beating animals) Despite the beauty of the site I felt sicknened by the cruelty and the greed of the locals. Petra should be seen but any animal ride should be avoided.

Your guide on Petra is of immense help. I am trying to put together a trip to Petra. I have few questions. Did you book a private vehicle from Amman and drove all the way to Petra or took local vehicle from the hotel to move between Petra, Wadi rum and Amman? The site guides should we take from travel agent or get one from the tourist center? Could you share which travel agent you used in Jordan? Thanks!

Hi. Great post and great tips for Petra. I am thinking to visit Petra in the beginning of 2017 July. I know that is too hot, right? And do you think that one day is too much to visit Amman? I am thinking to do a 3 day trip. Arrive on thursday visit Amman and maybe in the same day travel to Petra. So i would have friday and saturday morning to visit Petra. Do you think that is enough?
