10 Best American Cities for Single Women

Are you single and tired of going out to bars and seeing couples everywhere? Do you just want to go out in the city and meet other singles? But keep one thing to keep in mind: regardless of where you are going, dress to impress.

1. New York, New York

The land of nightlife, wealth and diversity, Manhattan offers great places for singles to mingle. You have a variety of locations to choose from when wanting to go out on the weekends including the meatpacking district or the East Village. Manhattan has everything to offer which makes it awfully easy to also meet fellow singles during the day. Try visiting local eateries and coffee shops as well as some of Manhattan’s great rooftop bars. 2. Austin, Texas

Austin’s downtown Sixth Street is famous (especially for singles) for great drinks and live music. Austin’s East Sixth Street (where you may find more local singles because it is less touristy) is also great for new and upcoming dive bars. Austin’s local population is very smart and eco-friendly, so make your way over there to meet other singles who also enjoy the same things you do.

3. New Orleans, Louisiana

It may seem like the land of mardi gras beads and cocktails (which are really great additives), but New Orleans is also the greatest city for singles. New Orleans has both Bourbon Street and Frenchmen Street, which are both very popular with locals and visitors alike because of their thriving nightlife – dancing, live music, and bars. Outside of the nightlife, New Orleans is also a very inviting city during the daytime. There are great coffee shops and local hotspots to mingle with other eager singles.

4. Las Vegas, Nevada

Of course Sin City is on the list of best cities for singlehood because it is the poster child of singlehood. It’s no surprise that Las Vegas ranks first in the ‘wild weekends’ survey conducted by America’s Favorite Cities. This is definitely the place to party with other singles — just don’t expect to find your soulmate here. 5. Chicago, Illinois

Although many know that Chicago is the windy city, they do not know is that Chicago has one of the most thriving bar scenes in America. If you’re looking to mingle with fellow single locals, find your way to any of the great bars in the greatest neighborhoods of Chicago including Pilsen, Logan Square, and Andersonville. Also visit downtown for a great view of the city and some fantastic cocktails with fellow singles.

6. Miami, Florida

This Florida hotspot is known for its glamorous party scene in South Beach and the design District or Brickell. Although this may be a great place to meet other singles, Miami is also known for locals who may be very intimidating. Regardless, the population is very stylish and attractive.

7. Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville has a very thriving music scene with an added plus: IT’S AFFORDABLE! This music scene is paired with very friendly locals, which makes Nashville a great city to be single in.  There are great local bars on lower Broadway including Willie and Waylon. If you are looking for a less touristy area to find local singles, make your way to the 12-South area.

8. Denver, Colorado

Although Colorado possesses a more laid back social scene than New York and Miami, it’s still a great place to meet local singles. You may have an easier time finding fellow singles while hiking, mountain biking, or at a local pub rather than a swanky club but the singles are prevalent regardless. Denver is known for having a large portion of their male population in shape (buff men!), great beer, as well as great outdoors.

9. Providence, Rhode Island

Providence is a great small-scale place to meet local singles. In the America’s Favorite Cities survey, Providence was voted as the greatest city to find singles in local neighborhood bars. Federal Hill, the city’s very own Little Italy, has great local bars and lounges. These joints are great for dancing and late night drinks. 10. San Francisco, California

San Francisco is a very diverse city with some thing to do for everyone regardless of his or her social preference. Not into partying and bars? Try mingling with other singles at the local art galleries. For bar hoppers, San Francisco has a great social scene including bars in the Mission District, the Marina, and in the Tenderloin. San Francisco also has a very prevalent LGBT community in the historic Castro.
