7 Great Places in NYC to Enjoy Solitude
When it seems like there’s nowhere to escape to, here are six things to do and places to go to get away from the crowds.
Poet’s House
Poetry is best enjoyed in solitude. Reading beautiful verse and indulging in quiet, introspective thought is a fantastic me-time activity. Poet’s House is a great place to bring a coffee and go into a more poetic world for a while.

The Cloisters
Museums are a great place to get away from the world for a while, and NYC has plenty of those. Instead of going to the Met, try its less-visited branch, the Cloisters. It can be a hike to get there, but that means fewer visitors there. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings while you learn about Medieval art. After you go through the museum, which is relatively small, stop by their café to relax and enjoy your last moments of solitude.

It’s easy to lose yourself in the crowd, and taking some time alone is the best way to recharge.

NYC definitely does start to feel cramped after a few years of living here. Thanks for the well thought out resource — I’m going to keep it bookmarked and go to some of these places the next time I feel claustrophobic.
