Ok, admit it. You can be a bit obsessive. Hey, that’s love! It’s not your fault — it hijacks the brain! If you’re like me, you want to spend all your time with your boo. But, is that really healthy?

We all hate it when our best girlfriends go MIA after meeting a new squeeze. So why be that girl? It’s important to have your own life, your own friends, and your own interests. Besides, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
So what’s the solution? A girl’s-only getaway, of course! Here’s how to plan the perfect long-weekend away:
- Start a Facebook Group and invite your best girlfriends. Make sure it’s set to private so you don’t get randos or non-besties trying to join.
- Find a long weekend that works for all of you, to go on a trip together. Make sure everyone comments and confirms! @Tag your friends to make sure they see the most important messages.
- Pick a vacation destination. My favorite way to do this is to pick an event, festival, concert, or destination spa and base the trip around that. If you need ideas, here’s a list of the best music festivals.

What destinations, concerts, or events do you think would be perfect for a girl’s getaway?

Donât forget a good paperback travel book for long bus rides. When your Kindle battery dies, youâll thank me. I recommend anything by Pico Iyer or Paul Theroux. đ
I love weekend getaways with the ladies because itâs easy to be goofy and do whatever we want! I love going camping on my girlsâ trips to go on adventurous hikes, huddle around the campfire, and wake up to the sunrise! Ideally, thereâs a beach or lake nearby for an afternoon swim. đ
IT’S ALL SO FUN AND COOL BUT ISN’T IT TIME TO LOOK HARD AT OUR CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACT OF FLYING AROUND FOR FUN AND STATUS PIN UPS? SURE YOU’VE WORKED HARD AND DESERVE YOUR FUN AND FRIENDS BUT AS A DESIGNER AND LIFESTYLE PERSONALITY I THINK WE ALL NEED TAKE SERIOUSLY THE ENTIRE LIFE-CYCLE COSTS OF OUR ACTIONS TO REDUCE THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF THE PRODUCTS, SERVICES AND PROMOTIONS LIKE THIS ONE. SO PERHAPS ADVOCATE PLAN YOUR TRIPS EARLY AND REDUCE YOUR TOTAL FLYING/DRIVING TIME BY 30% FROM LAST YEAR. 3.6 BILLION PEOPLE THIS YEAR BOARDED A JET AND 60% OF THOSE WHERE TRAVELING FOR LEISURE. IF EVEN A FRACTION OF THOSE PEOPLE LEAD THE WAY TO VOLUNTARILY REDUCTING THEIR CARBON FOOTPRINT WE COULD MAKE MORE OF A DIFFERENCE THAN THE PARIS CLIMATE CHANGE AGREEMENT. IT VOLUNTAR BUT IT NEEDS LEADERS LIKE YOU. THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT WAY OF PROMOTING LIFE AND HAPPINESS. SINCERELY KEITH RIGGS
I agree! I also think that not eating animal products, especially beef and dairy, is the best way to protect the environment.
“Livestock are responsible for 18% of the greenhouse gasses that cause global warming, more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together.” Check out: https://independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change/cow-emissions-more-damaging-to-planet-than-co2-from-cars-427843.html
One of the common problems I encounter whenever I try to plan an amazing girlâs getaway is this: someone will cancel at the last minute which makes other people cancel or reconsider going đ
That’s why this method is so good! If they pay you via Square Cash, in advance, then they won’t cancel đ
Weâre in the same boat đ But I always ensure the plan will push through (for friends who did not cancel). Donât spoil the fun!
I hate last minute quitters too. Though there are some unforeseen events but still the feeling of canceling something you have been preparing for quite sometime sucks. đ
will try this tips if ever we “planned” a ladies-only getaway. what I usually do to my friends is call them 1 by 1 ask them to free a certain day “NO QUESTIONS ASKED” and on that day I will abduct them on whatever they are doing on that day and start our well-earned vacations together. pros: no one cancels cause nobody knows whats gonna happen. cons: some will struggle, bruises are bound to happen, and the occasional “911” call that somebody got abducted. but heck we had our fun! and they said guys live way more reckless that girls do.
Love this article! Thanks for the Square Cash idea, havenât thought about using such an app for a successful girls’ only getaway!
Great advice! I canât deny the fact that if youâre younger and need to count every dollar, it is very challenging to plan and pursue a getawayâŚ
Yeah, we need to stretch our dollar as far as possible! Whew!
No. I think it is way easy to save dollars while you are still young rather than when you already have kids and family. I mean when you already have your own family, your priorities will focus more on providing food on the table, kids educations, and those kinds of stuff. So while you’re still young travel as much as you can!
Our planning always start with 3Ws: What, When and Where and believe me, Iâve heard ALL the excuses when it comes to why my girlfriends canât (or donât want) to plan an âall girlsâ getaway: lack of money, time or interest in a suggested location. So, I agree with tip number 5 đ
Iâve used Square Cash and I wanted to share my experience. Itâs a very easy way to pay people, except I think the Cash out feature (immediately with 1% fee) is a little deceptive. The app itself (not just the instructions on Google Play) should clearly indicate that this will be charged a fee and that if you wait for the cash to be deposited automatically, you won’t be charged a fee.
Donât get me wrong, I love my girlfriends and I love going away with them, but I feel frustrated whenever everyone is interested in the idea of going away, but slowly disappear once I started planning…
Itâs so important to take everything into consideration! đ
